for the second bad barbie records vinyl release of 2016 we are more than exited to bring you the magnificent work from the bla bla music owner daniel sanchez with his impromptu ep. here we have four amazing pieces where each one tells a different history. the first one pearled into droplets saw the light after a great live jam and the result is combination of several layers of base elements with subtle minimalistic articulations. these, in combination of the bass and synths lines do create a truly amazing micro house piece. the second one vague, is an atmospheric dub were a single synth chord raises in slowly, followed by a very subtle kick and bass line to set a bit of rhythm to the whole thing, creating a superb dreamy vibe while the chords do their thing with delicate reverbs and delays in the backend. a great musical piece indeed. for the third track we have yi, again another amazing micro house jewel born from a live jam, but this one is even more energetic than the first one and it also includes, besides a rocking bass line, analog synth chords that lifts up the mood during specific moments, which also do their part articulating themselves perfectly with some occasional twisted vocals that helps create an amazing party vibe from beginning to end. and if this wasn t enough we also have bedroom stories vocal tool that daniel included with his delivery, which can help spice up a dj set with ease.

tippa lee’s new album cultural ambassador will be released on stones throw, may 20, 2016. available now is the dub version of the album, dub them with reality, mixed by producer tom chasteen (dub club, natural numbers), who has reconfigured the tracks live on the mixing board with echo, reverb and various arcane electronics. the lp covers, in two variations, were screen printed in gold and black by hit & run, with artwork by ellen g. tippa lee was born and raised in kingston, jamaica. he started performing on his fathers sound system as a child, standing up on a beer bottle box to reach the mic. he made his first recordings at king tubby’s studio at the age of 12. eventually he teamed up with rappa robert and as a duo had a number of hits including “no trouble we”, an anthemic statement against police harassment, which was a number one jamaican hit in 1988 and is still played often on jamaican radio. in more recent years he has been based in the us, performing live and releasing his own underground cds.

if this latest missive from camp nado is anything to go by, were in for a scorching summer. for the eighteenth (though mysteriously numbered 014) release on the mancunian institution, messers moonboots and boardman invite a cosmopolitan cast from france and, well, yorkshire, to take us for a stroll through the surf. hulls renaissance man, steve cobby, takes centre stage on his label debut, collaborating with leeds musician rich arthurs on the a-side epic bushfarmer before showcasing his skill at the mixing desk with a b-side remix of penelope antennas sultry tradewinds, which also appears in all its original glory.

spider and phil are back with more of their analog jam session madness! 4 tracks of apocalyptic cult techno at it s finest. these two stalwarts are plowing through the scene with military precision. all four tracks were recorded in the world famous butcha sound studio in new york city. plan b recordings is on top of their game here with more original material from the rotten apple. stay tuned for much more to come..

in 2013 drumcell debut his first full length album sleep complex on clr. around the time of the album release drumcell invited three of his close label mates luis flores and raíz truncate from droid and lucy from stroboscopic artefacts to create their own interpretations of his music. the unreleased tracks were constant dance floor tracks used within the teams dj sets and its about time to release these tracks to the public!

severence is an electronic sound artist who lives in spain. mensch 003 experiments with various forms of chaotic sound & signal generation to create dense chaotic sound fields and other more relaxed ambient soundscapes. all tracks were recorded live in one take using a eurorack modular synth, a mixing desk and various effects pedals (no overdubs or post processing in the computer).

about a year ago nico stojan and acid pauli met at the studio to record some music. while doing so they discovered their common love for sample based production. so they were basically digging into old vinyls and eventually these three tracks came along. nothing more to say, but enjoy. call of the valley is the first release on the new label ouie: there has been a shift in this tiny piece of massive world and, like all other shifts, they are documented by those who were there. ouie is the label to do just that, created by the people who were there, making those shifts.

italian native, christian lisco is well known for having an extremely envious collection of vintage synthesisers and drum machines housed in his basement. it was there that four ridiculously special acid cuts that we are prone to immediately fall in love with on first reception. -your joy” which sees the collaborative efforts of singer, michael clifford, evokes the feeling of the early age of american house music. the next set of tracks were treated with a surrounding of acid basslines and heavy drums. mixed live and directly recorded to tape.

lakker were commissioned by the re:vive initiative to create a new conceptual work solely sampling field recording, tv and radio broadcasts from the dutch national av archive, the netherlands institute for sound and vision. the curated material provided all related to and was representative of the theme the “dutch and water”.
the resulting 8 track release “struggle and emerge” is a tense soundtrack to the machine driven mid-20th century that captures the complex relationship between the dutch and the water that surrounds them- unyielding, colossal, industrial.

ext returns with his follow up to the third installment of house shoes reputable “the gift” series with “arts & craft”. ext cleared off his desktop about a year ago and sent me everything he had been working on. all of the tracks were in various stages of development. some loops, some fully fleshed out, some sounded like sketches. it drew my attention because of the resounding innocence of the collection, an innocence that is more or less gone from the industry in 2015. listen and learn what it sounds like to just have the intention to create, not muddled with the star aspirations or big money dreams. just to create.

fantastic voyage’s autumn 2015 release of soul for dancers proved so successful, that we didn’t have to think twice when lois wilson (mojo, record collector) asked if she could do it all over again. it turns out that there were plenty more classic sides in her dj crates, drawing on that rich seam of early soul and proto-soul rhythm & blues, of the sort that would have packed the dancefloors on the sixties club scene, or has been embraced by subsequent generations of club soul diehards.

in collaboration with aniara records sankt goran presents an old swedish release that has been released as promo only in 1999. its a release called slobban by a late 90s trio of jens johansson, peter gustafsson and carl magnus ernström from falun in the woods of dalarna, two hours north of stockholm. almost classic detroit techno tracks with some jazzy influences from these guys that have been playing around and tweeking their deep bass nine, tb-303, korg dw8000 and yamaha dx7 & dx10, sprinkling some samples on top with the casio fz-10m since 1994. the peepz of aniara were so impressed by this obscure record that they found it essential to get a small run back avaialble for the many vinyl heads around. vinyl only release of these great swedish techno tracks somehow in the vein of the breakthrough tracks of aril brihka. nice one!

this polyrhythmic swirl of drum machine, tape echo and locked grooves is the product of two post-1982 jam sessions between an anonymous dj and drum machine operator duo. the dj liked the way a record happened to skip. more were made to do so. the drum machine operator had had a bit too much, but he knew that 100 divided by 3 was 33 - and he was feeling the toms that night. file under: funky experimental.

‘this is eleanore mills’ was her debut and only album, recorded for the sylvia robinson’s all platinum subsidiary astroscope in 1974. the album was produced by harry ray and al goodman of the moments and tommy keith of the rimshots. it includes some great crossover and modern soul cuts, including the in-demand string laden early soul/disco ‘same routine’ a popular killer cut and ‘i’m gonna get you’ another superb up tempo soul cut. ‘fascinating devastating man’ is a lovely mid tempo track. the album includes some beautiful soul ballads ‘he said goodbye’, ‘how can i love you’ and the heavily sampled ‘telegram’ which she rips up, plus ‘teach me’ an amazing near seven minute opus which picks up a heavier groove half way through.

borussia is our neighbor but dont think were releasing his record for this reason! he is passionate about video games, horror movies and romantic comedies, which might be one of the reasons why he gives us such an explosive cocktail. this record is raw, mad and dirty like a good old dance mania. but no need much to say, just try it on a dancefloor youll enjoy it!

qnete’s ep is not the question and not the answer. it’s in a hiatus between hopes and fears, still maintaining an eager energy. within a short period of time all tracks were recorded straight to tape, raw and improvised. they remember the sun bath before the storm, when you feel that something is about to roll over you. they express the urge and need to sometimes just jump into the cold water to face what’s coming next. they linger in the nervous energy when you’re lost and don’t know what to expect. but they also talk about the hope of finding a safe place.

the crate-digging credentials of psychemagik’s danny mclewin are well established. even so, he’s excelled himself with the first release on spacetalk, a joint venture with leng records’ simon purnell and paul murphy.
the trio have successfully worked together a lot over the last five years, with purnell and murphy releasing a string of superb collections, compiled by mclewin and psychemagik partner tom coveney. all three men were keen to continue this partnership, and have founded spacetalk to re-release long forgotten, little-known or overlooked music, as well as previously unheard archive material from some of the artists involved.
the label’s first release is as obscure as they come. morrison kincannon’s to see one eagle fly is stupidly rare, having initially been released by its’ creators as a private press record during the early 1970s.

on a fishing trip two years ago, the two main guys behind africaine 808: d leyers and nomad - went to a tackle shop to buy some creepy crawlies (saltwater worms), not knowing that they were about to make a life changing discovery. in front of the shop a blind man was jammming on a little electronic organ, stomping his feet, singing, growling and basically making a scene. the boys were quite impressed with the fella, who introduced himself as blind double d . they offered to bring him home and record him. he turned the offer down, but offered instead that they could record him on the spot in front of the tackle shop - if they bought him a bottle of good bourbon. he explained that he would never set foot into a studio again in his life: he was sick of music production and the music industry in general, and that he just wanted this bottle of bourbon and to be left alone. the boys got him the bottle, and recorded blind d.d. on the spot with a tape recorder they borrowed from the tackle shop. unfortunately, the tape was stored in one of the tackle boxes over the trip, and some of the creepy crawlies crawled into the tape and stank it all up. this added some extra funk to the recording. with dirk and nomad s usual studio trickery and production skills, they created the two versions of this very very funky, creepy, stanky track. we hope you ll enjoy it as much as we do.
